Trinity Industries is seeking a highly motivated Attorney to join our Legal Department as Associate General Counsel-Litigation in our Dallas, TX HQ. What you'll do in this role:
- Provide day-to-day litigation legal support, business focused counseling, and advice throughout our organization
- Oversee cases at all stages of litigation, including but not limited to (i) investigating facts; (ii) reviewing pleadings, (iii) summarizing cases, developing legal arguments, and preparing reports, (iv) engaging in all stages of discovery, and (v) managing litigation and litigation strategy throughout the life cycle of cases
- Develop, manage, and maintain exceptional external service provider relationships with law firms and consultants
- Review, evaluate, and analyze briefs, petitions, motions, and other pertinent documents filed in a particular case to determine legal issues, scope and complexity of issues raised, and factual accuracy
- Monitor new developments and emerging issues in various laws, assess related legal risks, and advise various business departments on these developments
- Partner with internal business leaders in Commercial, Leasing, Products, Marketing, Finance, Information Technology, and Information Risk
- Management to efficiently and effectively manage litigation, disputes, e-discovery and compliance related projects
Identify and assess potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them and provide proactive advice to internal teams to avoid future litigation - Seek continuous improvement opportunities within the scope of responsibility to maximize efficiency and in accordance with current legal trends
What you'll bring to this role:
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school (superior academic credentials preferred)
- Active State Bar Membership in good standing (Texas license preferred)
- 12 years related litigation experience with a top tier law firm or in-house at an equipment leasing or manufacturing company
- Significant experience with all aspects of litigation, including arguing motions, conducting depositions, large case discovery and document productions, brief writing, pre-trial activities, and trials
- Significant experience counseling senior business clients on a wide variety of litigation and legal risk issues
- Excellent analytical, strategic, legal research, writing and advocacy skills, including a strong ability to analyze legal issues through presenting statement of facts, law, and policy
- Strong eDiscovery experience
- Must have excellent writing, research, and analytical skills
- Must be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment and wearing multiple hats; have a flexible attitude; and be quick to react
- Must be able to communicate at a professional level with all levels of the company
- Ability to work accurately under pressure in demanding, fast-paced environment and maintain a sense of urgency
- Manage and track multiple project workflows and inbound requests for legal services
