Coaching Responsibilities
- Abide by the rules and regulations established by TVS and the Southwest Preparatory Conference (spcsports.org)
- Active engagement throughout the entire sports season.
- Positively encourage, train, and coach participants of the desired program.
- Instruct players in the rules, regulations, and techniques of basketball.
- Implement sound offensive, defensive, and team strategies to build competitive teams.
- Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct toward athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators.
- Schedule and organize effective practice sessions.
- Coordinate the development, promotion, and growth of the program in conjunction with the mission of TVS.
- Collaborate with the Basketball Program Director/Varsity Head Coach on retention and professional development of coaching staff.
- Work collegially with fellow coaches and Athletic Department staff.
- Represent TVS and the desired program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship.
- Generate additional support of the program throughout the greater TVS community.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have played at the high school level and/or have previous coaching experience at the high school or middle school level, serving as an assistant or head coach.
- Support fully the four main objectives of the TVS Mission Statement.
- Exemplify personal and professional integrity.
- Work collaboratively with faculty and the Athletic Department.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have a strong commitment to the multi-sport student-athlete concept.
- Successfully complete CPR training, possess or obtain valid Texas driver's license and be willing to complete a 14-passenger bus certification course.
- Recognize, embrace, and advance institutional goals for Equity, Inclusion, and Community.
- Nurture a deep feeling of community through actions and attitudes.
- Balance care and flexibility toward student athletes while holding them to high expectations.
- Exemplify personal and professional integrity.
