Overview (Scope of Role)
Trinseo is looking for a regional (senior) project manager. The Senior Project Manager, under the direction of the Global Project Execution Leader, manages a portfolio of projects in North America from Project Identification through Project Startup and Closure stages, ensuring the defined business or site benefits and objectives are fully realized. Further the Senior Project Manager collaborates with the proper leadership to ensure that the engineering and manufacturing goals and expectations are achieved in a safe, economical, and timely manner. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to contribute to the company's stated objectives in its transformation in sustainability and becoming a solutions provider.
Activities
- Controls the cost and timing of the project to keep expenditures and schedules within the limits authorized.
- Coordinates with the Business Management Team in the development of an Opportunity Definition and Business Case in FEL 1 that documents the project goals and objectives supporting the business strategy. Ensures that all stakeholders understand and support the goals and objectives for pursuing the opportunity.
- Manages and leads the development of the FEL 2 to define the process technology and the capital and operating cost required to support the business case. Prepares and submits the Early Authorization Package to obtain management approval and funding for further development and definition of the project in the gated process.
- Manages the preparation of the FEL 3 to define how the project will be organized and executed so that the goals and objectives of the business opportunity are realized, and all associated significant risks are identified and mitigated. Prepares and submits the Final Authorization Package to fund the remainder of the project.
- Manages the execution, commissioning and startup of the new facilities and the project closure activities in a safe and timely manner so that the business objectives of the project can be fully realized, and learnings will be recorded.
- Acts as a coach and mentor to less experience project managers
Required Educations, Skills & Experience
- Bachelors Degree in engineering or equivalent
- Broad generalized knowledge of the principals of chemical, civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering.
- 10 years' experience working in Plant Operations and/or Project implementation, preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry
- PMP Certification is a plus
