What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant position at Troon?

The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for assisting with important aspects of the daily accounting, human resources, and office administration. This position will interact with all Club staff and managers helping the property meet its goals. This position will report directly to the Accounting Manager / Controller.

Essential Duties:
  • Adheres to all Troon accounting standards and best practices.
  • Must be team oriented.
  • Support Accounting Manager with monthly financial needs and reports.
  • Vendor invoice processing and Accounts Payable and assist/oversight of Accounts Receivable and monthly billings/collections.
  • Assist with the maintenance of office equipment, including copier, fax machine, etc.
  • Involved with annual audits where applicable.
  • Assist with monthly client presentation preparation.
  • Participates as needed in special club projects/events and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Assist with all department administration needs.
  • May assist with daily, weekly, monthly, annual reports.
  • Assists with questions from the Controller or Shared Accountant related to various month end and balance sheet accounts. 
  • May assist with month end close, reviewing financial statements, and printing reports for General Manager and Department Heads.
  • Maintains record keeping, filing systems and processes daily mail.
  • Assists with certain HR functions in regard to new employee onboarding as needed.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience:
  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job.
  • The associate may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Accounting management system.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Highly polished interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people easily and quickly.
  • Ability to make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Must be highly organized and efficient with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly motivated, goal driven and self-starter.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet required deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain high level confidentiality.
  • Industry experience preferred (Hospitality/Resort).
