What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dean, College of Education position at Troy University?
The Dean of the College of Education is the chief academic and administrative officer of the college with multi-campus responsibility for coordinating all academic programs, scholarship, and service activities; oversight of program review, assessment and regional and specialized accreditation; strategic planning, resource management, and all aspects of human resource talent development. The college provides graduate and undergraduate education in teacher education, graduate education in counseling, and undergraduate education in psychology, with an increasing online presence. The dean oversees the development of undergraduate and graduate curriculum, provides overall direction of the faculty, and supervises the associate dean and faculty of the college on the respective campuses. This position reports to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The dean will be active in fundraising, forging strategic partnerships with the private and public sectors, and building external relationships, including working with the college’s advisory council. In addition, the dean will advance the professional accreditation of the college and its reputation regionally and nationally. The dean serves as liaison officer with accrediting and licensure agencies, including Alabama State Department of Education, Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, and Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.
Minimum Qualifications
1. An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in a discipline within the college’s areas of responsibility
2. Proven administrative leadership in higher education of faculty or professional staff at the academic department or higher level

1. Demonstrated knowledge of state departments of education, Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, state councils on higher education, and other accrediting and licensure requirements

4. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering high-quality online education
5. Demonstrated high energy level directed at developing and refining curriculum to meet the changing needs of employers
6. Experience in organizational analysis and design
