What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician-OB / PRN position at True Health?

 

JOB SUMMARY

This Family Medicine Obstetrician Physician provides hospital on-call services at Advent Health. Provide comprehensive Obstetric services including preventive and health maintenance services, acute and chronic care, clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment as well as OB/GYN consultation services to True Health patients. The duties of the Physician position include, but are not limited to, providing diagnosis, treatment, consultation, education, and follow-up care to adult patients, proper maintenance of records, acting as the Supervisory Physician of Mid-level Providers and Residents as required, and any other reasonable and proper duties assigned.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  1. Perform histories, and physicals and prescribe a diagnostic, education, preventive, and/or treatment plan within the standards of accepted medical practice
  2. Perform and/or order labs, and diagnostic procedures, and make appropriate referrals as necessary
  3. Maintain patient records
  4. Adhere to proper charting protocols
  5. Coordinate continuity of medical care for patients
  6. Promote health by advising patients on diet, hygiene, and prevention of disease
  7. Inoculate and vaccinate as required
  8. Perform minor surgery as necessary
  9. Report deaths and contagious diseases to governmental authorities
  10.  Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries and on-call services at an area hospital of True Health choice.
  11. Perform bilateral tubal ligations, if applicable
  12. Perform in-office procedures including but not limited to colposcopies, endometrial biopsies, implantable contraception (intrauterine devices, Nexplanon, etc.), etc.

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  1. Be familiar with True Health's programs, philosophies, goals, and objectives.  Be cognizant of and comply with all policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws/regulations.
  2. Adhere to disease management protocols and key clinical pathways; use them to improve clinical performance.  
  3. Participate in collaborative and health care programs of federal and state governments approved by the Senior Management.  
  4. Work with QI/RM to ensure compliance with clinical measures.
  5. Complete all required daily tasks on time.  (Payroll timekeeping, encounter tickets, hospital encounters, evaluations, progress notes, etc.).
  6. Understand the requirements of True Health's Exposure Control Plan and ensure compliance of play by support staff assigned to assist you.
  7. Personally utilize Universal Precautions when practicing in the clinical setting.
  8. Facilitate needed referrals, including social services for patients requiring services not offered at True Health, in coordination with referral coordinators and nurses according to True Health policy.
  9. Participate in staff outreach and off-site health care programs requiring OB/GYN services as requested by the Chief Medical Officer and represent True Health in the community.
  10. Advise and assist ARNP and PA-C mid-level providers as needed in accordance with approved protocols and procedures.
  11. Complete all duties, responsibilities, and competencies in a manner that is appropriate to the age groups to whom care/services are being provided.
  12. Assist in the review of primary care protocols and patient education materials in collaboration with the Chief Medical Office, Director of Ob/Gyn, and the Regional Medical Director.
  13. Provide necessary information and signatures for participation in reimbursement arrangements, such as Medicare, Medicaid, and other plans.
  14. Review incoming reports (lab, x-ray, EKG, etc), sign off, and follow up when indicated.
  15. Maintain neat patient records with timely dictation of SOAP notes and current Chronic Problem and Medication lists.
  16. Maintain up to date knowledge of coding and billing requirements.  Provide accurate coding information on encounter tickets that corresponds to care given and is documented in progress notes.
  17. Provide off-hours, extended hours, and on-call duty as required.
  18. Report as needed to Chief Medical Officer, Director of Ob/Gyn, and/or Regional Medical Director any pertinent information or situations that impact on patient care or True Health liability.
  19. Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with other members of the clinical team.  Be supportive of coworkers.
  20. Maintain neat and professional appearance at all times.
  21. Perform all surgical procedures using sterile techniques and CDC guidelines.
  22. Carry out any other activities deemed appropriate by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) or Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
  23. Other responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. In fellowship or a Residency trained Physician
  2. Board Eligible / Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and /or Board Certified in Family Medicine
  3. Florida Medical License
  4. Florida DEA License
  5. Medical staff privileges at appropriate hospital if designated by True Health
  6. BLS Certification
  7. Computer Literacy

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Prior experience using an electronic medical records system
  2. Bilingual a plus, but not required

RELATIONSHIP REPORTING

  1. Reports to the Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Regional Medical Director 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Requires 80% or more time spent standing/walking.
  2. Independently mobile
  3. Ability to lift weight equivalents that would be required when occasionally assisting and repositioning patients, repositioning equipment, and lifting supplies.
  4. Ability to adapt and function in varying environments of workload, patient acuity, work sites, and work shifts
