SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchase raw materials and subcontract work for TrueNorth Steel. Responsible for managing the cost and on-time delivery of purchased materials from assigned suppliers. Coordinate supplier quality improvements with TrueNorth Steel quality team members.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Purchase steel, fabricated parts, paint and accessories for TrueNorth Steel from current approved vendors.
- Research new raw material supplier and subcontractor options for TrueNorth Steel locations.
- Assist with developing and maintaining vendor qualifications/assessments.
- Communicate current material prices, lead times and mill rolling schedules.
- May work direct with the steel mills negotiating pricing.
- May need to analyze multiple potential vendor solutions and make sound purchase decisions based upon price, availability and internal customer requirements.
- Prompt and dependable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in Business or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years purchasing/buying experience.
- Steel manufacturing experience preferred.
