Summary: Under general supervision of Expanded Impact Teachers (EIT) and school leadership, assists EIT Teachers with duties, including but not limited to, leading supplemental instruction that includes digital learning if available, independently monitoring and supervising students to provide a safe learning environment, ensuring that students stay on task, frequently collaborating and communicating with EIT Teachers and other school staff to monitor and address student progress and development.

- Instructs individual students or groups of students in curricular areas as guided by the EIT teacher(s)
- Plans and collaborates with the EIT teacher(s) to devise special strategies, including the use of digital learning or technology as appropriate, for reinforcing skills and concepts based on the understanding of individual students and their needs, interests and abilities
- Assesses student learning progress in the group, utilizing technology and digital learning tools as appropriate, and communicates results and recommendations to EIT teacher(s)
- Holds students accountable for ambitious learning goals
- Holds students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement that are ambitious and measurable
- Identifies and addresses individual students' social, emotional, and behavioral learning needs and barriers, and organizational and time management skills
- Establishes and contributes to a culture of respect, enthusiasm, and rapport
- Creates environments conducive to collaborative and individual learning
- Supervises, monitors and manages students as requested, including but not limited to, transition times, less structured time, and individual work time, which may include digital learning
- Assists in administrative paperwork, including but not limited to, checking materials and portfolios, correcting papers, supervising, and testing as directed
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students

Minimum
Qualified candidates must meet one of the following combinations of education and experience (Note: Also meets NCLB Paraprofessional's requirements to be highly qualified.):
- Completion of an Associate's Degree OR two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours with a grade of "C" or better (concentration in Education preferred); AND at least three years of previous experience working with children; OR
- High School Diploma AND ability to pass a formal assessment (Workkeys - three assessments needed: Reading (4), Mathematics (4), Writing (3) and 96 hours of in-service training), OR
- Completion of the NC DOL Apprenticeship Program, OR
- Completion of the NC ATA Professional Development Plan AND at least five years of previous experience working with children, OR
- Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Education
- At least three years of previous experience working with children preferred.
- Technology proficiency, including ability to troubleshoot hardware and software, and knowledge of digital learning may be required for certain assignments
