Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Related experience
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Practical, active listening skills
- Organizational and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of heating and cooling systems
- Knowledge of electrical and plumbing repairs
- Knowledge of safety procedures
- Training in the proper care and storage of chemicals, e.g., OSHA/PERRAC training
- Ability to read written instructions, warnings, and labels and understand verbal directions
- Mechanically inclined with an attitude to do minor repairs, evaluate and access mechanical concerns, and report the concerns to the Head Custodian for further evaluation
- Acceptance of building use and the need for flexibility in cleaning schedules
