JOB SUMMARY: The Farm to School (F2S) Coordinator will support comprehensive, integrated F2S program development and collaboration across the entire district. The coordinator will promote efficient management of both intra- and inter-school F2S activities, such as supplies procurement for edible grow spaces and local foods events (taste tests, Great Apple Crunch, etc.), F2S curricular activities (F2S activity kits, guest speakers, field trips, etc.), F2S marketing, and community engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Participate in meetings of the F2S Leadership Team, F2S Steering Committee, school-specific Garden Teams, and other F2S-related teams/committees as needed.
- Develop opportunities for students to visit and/or learn about individuals, businesses, and organizations that are key players in the local food system, including open houses, guest speakers, field trips, on-site activities, etc.
- Provide outreach for students, school district families, and community members to participate in F2S activities and maintain records of participants, expenses, and impact.
- C0-create a clear and streamlined process for teachers, support staff, families, and any other snack providers (outside of district food service) to procure locally-sourced foods for school/classroom use.
- Collaborate with district administrators and teachers to build food, agriculture, and/or nutrition education into core subject curricula, utilizing a variety of experiential learning methods that can assist in meeting curriculum standards.
- Work with F2S Leadership Team to equip instructional and support staff with resources, supplies, trainings, and options to implement Farm to School activities inclusively and holistically.
- Facilitate translation of all F2s program materials and grow space signage into multiple languages (Spanish and French).
- Co-develop and maintain a robust and ongoing marketing campaign to ensure students, staff, and the community stay informed and engaged.
- Co-develop a budget and plan for varied, sustainable funding for all components of the F2S program.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the district administration and/or F2S Leadership Team.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of schools and education terminology
- Experience in education, nutrition, environmental science, or agriculture
- Experience working with youth in an educational setting
- Good computer and technology skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience and ability to work with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds
- Passion for inspiring healthful eating among youth and for promoting local, sustainable agriculture is a plus
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 20-30 hours per week
- 10-month calendar (07/24/2023 - 06/05/2024)
- 10 Paid Holidays
- 10 Sick Days & 2 Personal Days (allocation is prorated based on start date if necessary)
