Lead Teacher for Lower Elementary (grades 1-3) Montessori Public School

Hill View Montessori Charter Public School, a public school serving 306 students in grades K-8 using the Montessori approach to educating children, located in historic Haverhill, Massachusetts (35 miles north of Boston on the New Hampshire border, 15 miles from the Atlantic Ocean), is seeking an experienced and dedicated teacher for a Lower Elementary (grades 1-3/mixed ages) Montessori public school classroom for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package. Well-qualified candidates will have teaching experience and a commitment to learning and applying the Montessori approach to educating children. Candidates should also have a strong commitment to child-based, student-centered, developmentally-appropriate, holistic education. Montessori certification or experience teaching in a Montessori environment a big plus! Strengths should include an ability to work collaboratively, a passion for project-based and experiential, independent learning, and a positive and creative approach to teaching. Experience working in a Massachusetts public school is also a plus! Major responsibilities include: * Implementing a Montessori Lower Elementary (grades 1-3/mixed age classroom) curriculum aligned with Massachusetts state standards; • Integrating student-centered education in a prepared Montessori environment; • Setting the example for and upholding Montessori's commitment to grace and courtesy; • Serving collaboratively on grade- level and diverse teacher teams to improve the professional practices of the school A successful candidate must possess: • A bachelor's degree is required, a master's degree is preferred; • Montessori teacher certification (EL I or EL II) is a major plus; • Massachusetts teacher license and SEI endorsement; • Experience as an elementary school teacher is ideal, but will consider a dynamic new teacher; • An entrepreneurial spirit that reflects an openness to change, a willingness to problem-solve, and an interest in developing new ideas and programs; • Experience and/or an interest in working with young children; • Effective communication skills, both written and spoken; • Willingness to engage in frequent dialogue and to be self-reflective with regard to teaching practices; • Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities and differentiate for those students with special needs and English Learners; • Successful classroom manager who firmly believes that a structured environment and high behavioral expectations for all students lead to student achievement; • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; • Commitment to the Hill View Montessori's mission; • Critical thinker and problem-solver; • Collaborative team player; • Strong work ethic; • Flexibility, warmth, and a sense of humor!
