The Wayland Public Schools is looking for an individual to process payroll and benefits for the School Department employees in the Town of Wayland. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Duties may include but are not limited to: •Processes the School Department's payroll; reviews wages computed and corrects errors; answers payroll questions; codes information and makes calculations for payroll; maintains computerized database of payroll information for all employees; performs data entry work; balances totals to warrant; •Processes retirement, payroll savings and state and federal withholdings; performs data entry work related to employee deductions; •Submits reports to federal and state agencies as required; •Adjusts existing MUNIS related to wages, accruals, and salary encumbrances; •Maintain accuracy of data in MUNIS to include employee pay, benefits, accruals, and attendance, and other data elements; •Reconciles and balances biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports; maintains all personnel changes made to computer system for accurate reporting; •Prepares a variety of reports and related information for decision-making purposes; prepares periodic financial, statistical, or operational reports as assigned; •Coordinates and collaborates with the Human Resources Manager on an ongoing basis on matters pertaining to, but not limited to, leaves of absence, new hires, employee name and address changes, resignations, and retirements. •Performs general clerical duties; types, files, answers the telephone, performs mathematical calculations; assists employees in person or on the telephone regarding issues, and concerns; advises employees appropriately; •Performs similar or related work as directed, required, or as situation dictates. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1.Ability to use high-level interpersonal skills in order to maintain effective working relationships; 2.Ability to perform mathematical computations; 3.Possess keen attention to detail; 4.Ability to maintain detailed statistics and records as required by the position; 5.Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience using MUNIS software is preferred; 6.Proficient ability to communicate orally and in writing; 7.Ability to handle highly sensitive personnel matters in a timely and professional manner. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT •12 month full-time position; 35 hours per week, excluding lunch; •Reports to Director of Finance and Operations; •Other conditions and benefits as negotiated in accordance with School Committee policies; this is a benefits-eligible position.
