Title: Advisor - Percussion Ensemble Advisor (BHS)
FUNCTION: To assume the responsibility for directing and supervising appropriate activities
such as practice sessions, games, performances, parades, pep rallies,
competitions and meetings. Directly responsible to the building principal.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist student in scheduling and planning practice sessions and meetings. Works in a positive manner with the Marching Band Director to determine performance Standards required for percussion section members. Encourages excellence in the performance level of all band students through individual and small group practice sessions, application of sound music theory and technique, and positive instructional techniques. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior, to provide an orderly productive environment for all band related activities. Maintain necessary attendance records and paper work. Must attend marching percussion practice sessions. Assume responsibility for the facility or area in which assigned activity is conducted at all times students are present. Encourage percussion section to attend percussion clinics. Responsible for the selection of the percussion section. Assist marching band director with shows and performances. Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferably a member of the High School teaching staff. Experience and background in music and marching techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Dedication to the service of youth. Demonstrated ability to relate favorably with students.
