ROLE SUMMARY
Security Assistant II: This position reports to the building principal and provides day-to-day support and safety of students. Under direct supervision, assist in maintaining a safe and productive environment for students, staff, and visitors on school properties and at school sponsored events (graduations, conferences, meetings, sporting events, etc.)

Service Period: School year only - 8 hours daily

Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Associate's Degree or higher
- High School diploma or equivalent
The successful candidate shall have the training, skills and ability necessary to:
- Must have ability to communicate verbally, work with youth, and maintain discipline in the school setting and on playgrounds with groups of students
- Must also be able to follow oral and written instructions
- Work experience with youth groups in multi-ethnic situations preferred
Responsibilities of Position:
- Assist with emergency evacuations and/or shelter in place emergencies
- Monitors and supervises a student's common area such as hallways, restrooms, playgrounds, entrance ways, and emergency exits
- Assist with pedestrian and vehicle traffic around buildings and property owned by Cincinnati Public Schools
- Assist as directed by school authorities in stopping disturbances in the school and on school grounds
- Assist visitors by giving directions and needed explanations
- Reduce or eliminate public access to restricted areas of buildings and property owned or maintained Cincinnati Public Schools
- Notifies the responsible Cincinnati Public School personnel on matters of concern in direct relation to school safety and building integrity
- Assist law enforcement officers, fire personnel, and emergency services representatives when necessary in the stabilization of incidents which place students, staff, and visitors at risk of harm
- Attend training and other meetings as requested by the Office of Safety Services
- Complete and submit daily reports to the Office of Security Services
- Performs other duties as required
