Assignment details: Position: Special Education Teacher Location: California Employment Type: [Full-time] Start Date: ASAP End Date: June 2024 Zip code of a site: 06810 Age group: Middle School Total hours per week: 40 hrs per week Duration of contract: School Year 2023-2024 Responsibilities: - Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, tailored to their unique strengths and challenges - Create and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that align with students' IEP goals and academic standards - Utilize effective instructional strategies and accommodations to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities - Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff to ensure an inclusive and cohesive learning environment - Assess and monitor student progress regularly, using various assessment tools and techniques, and adjust instruction accordingly - Provide individual and small group instruction to address specific learning needs and reinforce concepts taught in the classroom - Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture by promoting respect, empathy, and self-advocacy among all students - Collaborate with parents and guardians, involving them in the educational process and providing regular updates on student progress - Attend and actively participate in team meetings, professional development sessions, and parent-teacher conferences Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field - Valid teaching certification/license in Special Education - Prior experience working with students with special needs, preferably in an educational setting - Knowledge of current special education laws, regulations, and best practices - Strong understanding of different disabilities and the ability to tailor instruction to meet diverse learning needs - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team - Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for advocating for and supporting students with special needs To apply, please submit your resume, cover letter, teaching philosophy, and any relevant certifications or references to [email address].
