JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential
- Definite work schedules for tutors will be established. Tutors are expected to attend all faculty meetings called by the supervisor and/or building administrator
- Tutors are expected to become familiar with and abide by the professional code of ethics established by the profession
- Tutors shall devote themselves exclusively to their duties in the schools during school hours, and shall not employ their time outside of school in such manner as to interfere with their usefulness in the school room or with their participation in regularly scheduled meetings held in the interest of the school system
- Tutors shall follow a daily schedule approved by the supervisor and/or building administrator and the Superintendent, a copy of which shall be kept by tutors in a conspicuous place near the entrance to their rooms, a duplicate of which shall be filed with the Superintendent and supervisor by the first Friday in October
- Tutors shall be required to keep their classes in session each day during school hours and shall not be permitted to dismiss them anytime without the consent of the supervisor and/or building administrator or the Superintendent. They shall dismiss their classes promptly at the time set
- Tutors shall not be absent from school without permission of the supervisor and/or building administrator or Superintendent
- Tutors are expected to take part in plans for their professional development and all general in-service educational programs unless excused by the supervisor and/or building administrator or Superintendent
- Tutors shall be responsible for all school apparatus and property entrusted to their charge
- Tutors are held responsible for the orderly deportment of their pupils and will be assisted in all reasonable means to secure those ends
- Tutors shall not be corrected or criticized under any circumstances in the presence of pupils or parents
- Tutors shall give every reasonable assistance to pupils who have fallen behind in their studies due to absence or other causes
- Tutors are required to keep records showing the names of all pupils enrolled in tutoring or grades while under their supervision, the studies pursued, the character and nature of the work done, the standing of each Superintendent, the Board of Education and the State Board of Education
- Tutors are expected to meet their classes on time and remain in constant supervision of the class or group activity. If emergencies or other activities arise to call them from their rooms, the supervisor should be notified immediately
- Tutors are subject to any additional policies and regulations which are issued by the supervisor and approved by the Superintendent. They should be notified in writing of any such policies or regulations
- Incorporated within one or more of the previously mentioned essential functions of this job description are the following essential physical requirements:
- Ability to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to see for purposes of reading printed matter and observing students
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
- Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversations
- Ability to bend and twist, stoop, kneel, run and crawl
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to carry 25 pounds
- Ability to operate office/computer equipment
- Ability to reach in all directions
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
