Grounds Crew Supervisor

*Trump Winery is looking for a Grounds Crew Supervisor to join our team. The Garden and Grounds team is responsible for over 1200 acres of grounds/landscapes/gardens comprising of Albemarle Estate at Trump Winery, Tasting Room, Chapel, Grand Hall, Barn, Pavilion, entrances, and other areas on property. Given the nature of the position, work days/schedules may flex due to weather or other conditions and may include weekends or overtime as needed. This position is full time, works closely with the maintenance department and other department managers, supervises the Grounds crew and will report to the Garden and Grounds Manager.

Location: 20 minutes from Downtown Charlottesville
Wage: $18-$20/hr DOE Excellent Full Time Benefits
Hours: FT, 40 hours per week,M-F 7 am - 3:30 pm, weekend availability

Essential Duties

• Oversees and assists with completion of groundskeeper tasks included but not limited to: weeding, watering, planting, sweeping, raking, snow removal, edging, shrub bed renewal/installation/repair, mulching, seeding, exterior/interior plant care, trimming, pruning, transplanting, propagation of plant material, composting
• Supervise 4-5 groundskeepers to ensure proper completion of tasks as well as standards of work through hands on training and direction
• Work with the crew unless otherwise directed by the Gardens and Grounds Manager.
• Set priorities and organize work flow to be efficient and effective while also taking the guest experience into consideration.
• Maintains and repairs tools, equipment and structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, and benches, using hand tools, power tools, and equipment
• Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites and other ground features
• Assists with snow removal, when necessary
• Dress professionally and appropriately for the job
• Maintain a safe working environment through the use of safe work practices, safe use of equipment and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment
• Have attention to detail and accuracy, and cultivate a high-end guest experience
• Maintain a professional attitude with all employees, customers and vendors
• Provide assistance as needed completing and collaborating on projects/tasks
• Use of ride-on equipment knowledge to include zero turn, fairway style mowers, tractors and loaders
• Ability to operate company vehicles safely
• Operate forklifts and dump trucks safely to move material
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the Gardens and Grounds Manager
• Provide support to the operations of Eric Trump Wine Manufacturing and Trump Virginia Acquisitions

Requirements

• High School Graduate or G.E.D
• Previous supervisory experience of 2 years or more
• Previous work in the general Landscape or related field
• Chainsaw safety training
• Forklift safety certification
• Valid driver’s license
• Certified pesticide applicator or registered technician
• Ability to read, write and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job.
• Basic Spanish speaking skills a plus
• Knowledge of computing skills (Word, Excel, Microsoft 365)
• Knowledge of lawn care and/or landscaping in general
