The TCEE is a dynamic child-focused preschool program in the heart of Coolidge Corner, Brookline, MA. We use an emergent curriculum and follow the developmental model of education, encouraging cognitive and social growth through exploration, cooperative problem solving and critical thinking.

Competitive salary and benefits offered. Salary range equivalent to $20 - $26/hour, commensurate with experience.

Physical Requirements
Ability to actively participate in children’s play and care including frequent reaching, running, and sitting on the floor and in small chairs. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and by phone; seeing to read and prepare documents, monitor children for safety, and perform assigned duties; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; kneeling, stooping, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store supplies; occasionally lifting moderate weight objects including children.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General
· Attend to children’s physical and emotional safety
· Develop relationships with families and colleagues
· Be with children joyfully, providing a positive, nurturing environment
· Maintain own and shared physical spaces
· Attend to communication and documentation of children's interactions and experiences
· Maintain at all times the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality
· Implement of integrated secular and Judaic curriculum
· Meet all DEEC requirements

Pedagogy
· Provide care, protection, consistency, and guidance to the children
· To encourage each child's independence leading to a sense of competency and self-initiating behavior
· To respect each child's right to be an individual, cognizant that each child's timeline is unique
· To assist each child's awareness of their own needs and the rights of others
· Assist parent and child in the adjustment to school process

Administrative & Classroom
· Work with teaching team to develop emergent curriculum (daily, weekly, and long range)
· Read and understand children’s files, noting allergies and special traits pertinent to the maximization of child's potential. Update portfolios including work samples, anecdotal notes, and other documentation
· Provide a cheerful, nurturing, healthy, safe and clean classroom environment
· Maintain daily and monthly attendance and injury records
· Maintain organization and cleanliness of equipment, materials, and classroom
· On an on-going basis, plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment in the classroom to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child
· Prepare for and participate in team meetings as well as scheduled parent conferences and phone calls

Professional Development
· Participate in lifelong learning by increasing knowledge and abilities in the field of early childhood education through attendance at workshops and courses, reading books or periodicals, etc
o Attend workshops or courses as requested or required. Share information from these workshops with other members of the administrative team or teaching staff, as appropriate
o Work towards increasing knowledge of Judaism and related topics
· Fulfill the requirements of the Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC) including participation in 20 hours of continuing education. At least 1/3 of the hours must address the needs of diverse learners [DEEC section 7.09 (d)]
· Maintain a Professional Development Record with annual goals
· First aid/CPR: Complete pediatric first aid training every two years and CPR training annually
· Attending faculty orientation, staff meetings and team meetings as detailed on the attached calendar and in the TCEE Staff Handbook Participate in supervision meetings, teacher learning days and meetings

Requirements:

Minimum Bachelor's degree in early education or related field
3 years experience in education or child care
EEC teacher certification required
Strong written and oral communication skills
Team-oriented, flexible, and reliable
