Counter Person - The Open City

The Tryst Trading Company food group is looking for a Café Counter Person (CCP) to join our team of amazing individuals who share a genuine passion for creating and serving great food and drinks, and who enjoy working in a place that promotes a culture of building meaningful connections with our guests and amongst our staff.

This position is exclusive to Open City at The National Cathedral (OCNC). OCNC is a coffeehouse/café, offering a variety of food items, specialty coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages. CCP's are cross-trained to perform and/or assist in all café functions. The ideal candidate is personable, a good communicator, well organized, works well with others, and shares our Core Values, which are listed in the qualifications below. The CCP's duties include, but are not limited to:

• Greet and assist all guests as needed.

• Anticipate and respond quickly to all guest needs.

• Take guests food and beverage orders and collect payments.

• Have detailed knowledge of all food and beverage menu items including key ingredients, common allergens, and menu pairing suggestions.

• Assist with preparing beverages.

• Assist with preparing food items.

• Run orders out to guest tables.

• Pre-bus and bus all tables.

• Assist with dishwashing and trash removal.

• Constantly maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Perform assigned Running Sidework, and Closing Sidework duties.

• Perform tasks or duties as directed by the Manager on Duty.

• Is constantly mindful of, and follows good food safety practices.

• Ensure guests have an enjoyable experience from the moment they enter till the time they leave.

The Growth Path for a successful CCP is to Cafe Barista > Cafe Lead > Assistant Cafe Manager > Cafe Manager > AGM > GM > Central Management Positions.

Qualifications

• Strong oral communication skills in English are required.

• Previous Hospitality/Restaurant experience is a big plus.

• Barista experience is a very big plus.

• Adept at learning and memorizing - will be required to know menu items.

• High School degree preferred.

• Must be organized and able to multitask.

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

• Must work well under pressure.

• Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
