Clinical Assistant
Location: Deerfield Beach, FL
Permanent
Monday – Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
Salary: $18 - $20 per hour

Description:


Assist physicians by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records. Clinical duties may include preparing the treatment room for patient exams, recording patient medical history, and cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment.


Responsibilities and duties:
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and document all information in the patient’s chart.
  • Ensure all related reports, labs, and information are filled out and available in patients’ medical records before their appointment, if the medical secretary is not available to prepare charts
  • Process Faxes when the Medical secretary is not available
  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations; Assist physician in exam rooms as needed
  • Disinfects and cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations; Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required; Properly dispose of contaminated supplies
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; and verifying receipts.
  • Review HEDIS measures on Medicare Advantage patients
  • Draws blood, removes sutures, and changes dressings.
  • Schedule Pre-op appointments, including the pre-op visit with the physician as well as any required pre-op lab visit
  • Interview patients to obtain their medical history.
  • Records patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files.
  • Scheduling appointments via telephone and in-person as well as responding to other communications and telephone inquiries
  • This includes taking messages from patients for the physician regarding medical questions, acute concerns, medication refills, etc.
  • This will be if the Medical Secretary is already occupied with a patient or on the phone or away from her desk (Lunch, bathroom break, etc.)
  • Preparing patient charts for the next day’s lab visits. This includes confirming the patient’s appointment with them at least one day prior. Must ensure the superbill is properly filled out and be accurate on the lab requisition

Requirements:
  • Knowledge in the fields of medicine, anatomy and physiology
  • Medical mindset to understand the theories, reasons, and technical aspects of medicine
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Correct grammar, spelling skills, and legible writing.
  • Phone etiquette
  • Be able to prioritize workload while remaining flexible.
  • Adapt to change
