Once fully oriented, this position has the ability to be up to 20% remote.
The System Specialist, Radiology Information, reports to the Manager, Radiology Services and is responsible for technical and applications support of the TMC PACS and related systems. The position requires the ability to support the administration of PACS database, including, operational and network management of PACS core and ancillary components, across all PACS-enabled locations, to include servers, applicable network devices, workstations (interpretive and viewing), and modality interfaces. In addition, works with department supervisors to ensure the integrity of the database of exams and images, and supports ongoing training activities for Radiologists, Fellows, Residents and Technologists. The System Specialist works in tandem with key resources in Information Systems to provide both hardware/software/workflow support for all of Radiology applications to ensure mission critical clinical activities can be successfully performed. The System Specialist supports the Manager, Radiology Services providing proactive technical administration, coordination of technical resources and documentation of policies and procedures and overall management of the PACS.
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for routine system administration monitoring and oversight of PACS and related systems to promote consistent system operations and performance. Participates in deployment and upgrades of PACS and related applications. Performs troubleshooting of PACS application/workflow/hardware issues.
Ensures data integrity of order, image, and result records by monitoring and reconciling incorrect records.
Performs account administration and training of PACS end-users. Jointly develops and implements (e.g. personnel, location, equipment, materials) end-user training with the vendor.
Engages appropriate teams to ensure proper network, modality, staffing, and physical/environmental infrastructures are in place (or planned for future implementation) to support the optimal utilization of the PACS. Works with Radiology Administration and departmental Super-Users (and other stakeholders as required) to periodically analyze and modify workflow to support optimal PACS utilization.
Job Requirements:
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Solid business aptitude, to sustain change management, overall project management and development of strategic plans and sound business recommendations/decisions in the PACS rollout.
Extensive interpersonal skills for problem resolution, action delegation, vendor interactions and management, stakeholder support and action, consensus building and overall system promotion across the organization.
High level understanding of radiology workflow, modalities, clinical practice and interdepartmental relationships.
High level, technical understanding of networking, hospital information systems, data communication and database administration.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, radiology technology or related field or equivalent related experience.
Experience:
Minimum 5-7 years I.S. experience, including at least 2-3 years in a hospital environment with clinical system applications. Radiology Department experience preferred.
Working level, technical experience in database and operating systems administration
Working level, technical experience in network administration
Working level, clinical experience in the delivery of radiology services
Working level experience in systems planning, implementation, and sustainment from an IT project management perspective
Management experience directing activities of a multi-disciplinary team
Management experience of a multi-million dollar, enterprise wide information system
An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Works in a normal office environment with little exposure to unpleasant or hazardous conditions.
Regular interaction with medical students, residents, visiting fellows, and staff physicians.
