Organization Real Estate Services Pay $16.39 Pay Frequency Hourly Full Time / Part Time Full time Job Summary Under general supervision of the Recording Manager, the Recording Clerk is a vital part of the County Clerk Team. The Recording Department takes a leadership position in county use of technology and customer service. They strive to provide a warm, friendly, positive government experience to the Public. Clerks accept and process records pertaining to real estate to be filed in Tulsa County. Job Description PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK PERFORMED • Provide courteous customer service • Accepts documents and liens, including the returning of documents to customers with explanation if information or fee is needed • Processes documents for filing, entering data as necessary • Balances revenue stamps and calculates stamps for deeds • Affixes seal, colors seal, scans each document • Copies document for distribution and distributes documents • Posts Mechanic’s liens; sends notices to owners of property on each lien • Activates, closes, changes ribbon, labels, and receipts on computer daily • Balances cash drawer of daily transactions • Processes money deposited with County Clerk’s Office for cash or surety bonds • Accepts and files releases, amendments; examines each for proper information and files with corresponding lien • Performs other duties as assigned REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES • Skilled in serving the public in a courteous, respectful, and tactful manner; telephone etiquette, typing, and knowledge of basic computer software such as Microsoft Word and recording software • Knowledge of recording policies and procedures • Knowledge of land records and descriptions • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions • Process Mechanic’s liens, legal documents • Answer questions about recording documents • Process amendments, assignments and releases of liens SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to provide information to the public in a courteous, respectful, and tactful manner • An aptitude for learning and utilizing new technology • Knowledge of deeds, mortgages, easements, releases, judgements, and other legal documents • A good attitude and work ethic • Ability to input accurate data efficiently using a keyboard and mouse • Ability to work with minimal direction • Written and spoken communication skills • Ability to work and thrive in a team-oriented workplace • Must be a knowledgeable resource for customers regarding the documents • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including basic knowledge of Word, Excel and Access Additional Job Description EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree or equivalent and over one year work experience The qualifications listed above are intended to represent the minimum skills and experience levels associated with performing the duties and responsibilities contained in this job description. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Basic math skills REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
