We operate three state of the art manufacturing facilities and one of the few coating plants in the United States. Strategically located in Hatfield, MA, Martins Ferry, OH and Sebring, FL, our locations enable us to provide high-quality products and outstanding service throughout the Northeast, Mid Central, Mid Atlantic and Southern markets.
TCS is searching for a Buyer / Material Planner for our Corporate office in Brunswick, Ohio. This position is responsible for sourcing of raw materials such as urea, potash, potassium, micronutrients and various other materials used in the manufacturing of fertilizers and combination products. Ensures competitive pricing to secure a competitive advantage for manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a solid working knowledge of essential commodity trends including industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, material lead times and manufacturing processes. Keep management apprised of industry trends.
- Prepare RFQ's as needed. Negotiate contracts, pricing and commercial issues with suppliers.
- Maintain positive supplier relationships. Develop and implement cost reduction programs and commodity strategies.
- Optimize on-hand inventory days against customer order fill performance. Identify and champion inventory reduction initiatives.
- Place and track Purchase Orders with suppliers to full support production demand. Work with all three manufacturing locations to ensure correct and timely supply of inventory to support production needs.
- Utilize SAGE X3, Excel, Word and Outlook
- Investigate and propose possible solutions that improve operations and reduce unnecessary inventory.
- Identify new and/or alternate sources of supply as necessary to support production.
- Plan and maintain appropriate stock inventory levels based on current market needs and strategic objectives
- Resolve supplier performance issues as necessary
- Lead and enable effective resolution of emergency sourcing needs.
- Work collaboratively with other sourcing colleagues to share best practices and procurement process improvements. Lead weekly calls.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management, Operations, Business Administration or relevant experience required
- Minimum 2 years in planning / purchasing in a manufacturing environment
- Commodity knowledge preferred
- Previous experience with SAGE ERP

- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Basic financial analysis and management cost accounting skills
