Job Description
Turner & Townsend Heery are seeking a Commissioning Agent for our client in Los Angeles County.
The role will perform a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger one.
- Review, develop and collate construction project related documentation for approval by others.
- Undertake technical research.
- Prepare commissioning reports and deliverable documentation for review and approval by others.
- Perform on job site, inspection, testing, validation and verification of building systems for small projects possessing simple systems.
- Exercise some discretion, but generally works under direction of senior staff.
- Must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying standard commissioning procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with established safety practices; report any safety concerns or need for task specific training immediately to Operations Manager.
- Actively identify, understand and follow all project related safety procedures and complete training as directed.
- Reviews, develops, and collates construction project related reports and deliverable documentation for review and approval.
- Reviews construction related design documents, drawings and specifications for approval.
- Plans, chairs and documents project commissioning meetings.
- Verifies design documents, equipment submittals and measured performance are consistent with the specifications and client's operation requirements.
- Performs onsite observations relating to installation of building systems; prepares associated documentation for approval.
- Participates and documents onsite system testing, commissioning related activities and performance monitoring of complex and integrated systems.
- Identify, document, monitor and track commissioning observations and issues.
- Prepare project commissioning reports and systems manuals for approval by others.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSOBILITIES
- No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Completes assigned tasks, coordinates, and collaborates with co-workers within a work unit and/or project team.
Qualifications
Communication Skills
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex construction documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.
- Ability to write reports, manuals, and articles using distinctive style.
- Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients and/or public groups.
- Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees and client groups to take desired action.
Financial Knowledge
- Requires limited knowledge of financial terms and principles. Conducts basic financial analysis.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents.
- Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.
- Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant engineering discipline required and 2 years of commissioning experience, or a degree in another discipline plus appropriate continuing education and 5 years of commissioning experience.
- Must have 2-4 years public project/municipal experience and small capital projects, tenant improvements or renovation work.
- Small capex, TI, renovations type experience desired
CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSES
- LEED AP, BCA ACP, OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety preferred, but not required.
Additional Information
The salary range for this full-time role is $75K-$160 per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
