Job Overview

As a Test Technician in the Mechanical Engineering team at TuSimple, you will play a key role in working with the Test Engineer in performing testing and documenting test results in an accurate manner to support our ongoing projects.

Experience and Skills required :

  • Carry out testing according to established methods and written test plans
  • Independently perform bespoke customized testing to meet the requirements of the project
  • Work with the Test Engineer to document the testing results in correct formats/templates
  • Provide written technical reports in a timely and accurate manner to management
  • Assist in component level and system level DVP&R testing activities as well test planning brainstorming activities
  • Work with other Engineering team members in getting set ups and fixturing done to perform testing
  • A good understanding of mechanical and physical testing of components and systems
  • Knowledge of test methods and OEM engineering specifications
  • Planning and good organizational skills
  • Computer literate including technical report writing in Word, and data presentation using Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience of working to Quality standards and processes
  • Clear awareness of safety culture required in Test labs
  • Hardworking, flexible and a desire to work, develop and succeed in life
  • Ability to work with hand setting up equipment and fixtures for testing
  • Minimum High School Diploma with 5 yrs. work experience or Associate degree with 3yrs work experience
  • 3 years of direct work experience working in an Automotive testing lab as a Test Technician. Experience in labs supporting Automotive OEMs testing would be preferred
  • Clear demonstration of using test instruments and equipment like strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure sensors, Instrom testing machine, thermal chambers, etc.
  • Good experience in Noise, Vibration and Harshness testing execution on vehicles
  • Experience with environmental and thermal testing set ups
  • Experience with accelerated aging testing setups
  • Experience working to Quality standards and processes
