What are the responsibilities and job description for the Team leader position at TWO SAINTS?

Full time, 37 hours a week. Working 8am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, and 8am to 3.30pm Friday.

£25,009 progressing to £27,789

Portsmouth Mental Health Supported Living Service provides supported accommodation for up to 12 adults, who have mental ill health and alcohol / substance misuse needs.

Our clients have a mix of medium to high support needs and this service provides 24 / 7 support across two houses next door to each other.

Our aim is to support clients to develop life skills to enable them to achieve their goals, gain independence and move on to safe and secure accommodation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will support your team to achieve their potential through regular staff supervision and coaching and support them with their workload where needed
  • You will be involved in the recruitment of your team, including relief and volunteers and responsible for ensuring appropriate shift cover
  • Attend relevant meetings regarding clients or with stakeholders / commissioners, where required
  • Develop positive professional relationships with stakeholders / commissioners
  • Reports and data will need to be run and provided where required
  • Ensure staff are supporting clients to address all issues leading to their homelessness i.e, substance use, mental health or debt and including improving practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry, health & hygiene
  • Work with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community
  • Help to maintain a welcoming, safe environment, identifying and minimising all potential risks to users of the premises, the organisation and property
  • Carry out quality checks on client records to ensure organisational standards are upheld
  • Health & Safety checks will need to be carried out where required and ensure information is recorded accurately on internal systems in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures
  • Ensure an effective and timely response to all complaints and safeguarding issues taking appropriate action
  • Attend supervision, appraisal, training and meetings as directed which may be outside of your normal working pattern
  • You will work flexibly across all areas of operation where required and prior notice given
  • You will be part of the on call service
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by a member of staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with homeless people with a mental health diagnosis and complex needs.

  • Clear verbal and written English and great communication skills
  • Basic IT and keyboard skills
  • Polite, assertive manner
  • Strong, clear leadership skills
  • An understanding of PIE principles
  • An understanding of Trauma Informed principles and a Person Centred approach to working with individuals
  • Passion for working in a client / customer facing role
  • Have an interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues
  • Experience of working in a residential or institutional setting or similar
  • Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies
  • Strong partnership and networking skills
  • Flexibility to meet needs of the service
  • Previous experience of working with clients with complex mental health needs is desirable but not essential
