Tyler Technologies is looking to hire an SEC Reporting Manager on the corporate finance team. The SEC Reporting Manager will be responsible for obtaining, summarizing, and providing critical SEC reporting data and information for the proper filing and timely filing of forms with the SEC. In addition, this position is responsible for extracting and summarizing data from Tyler systems for the proper and accurate preparation of Tyler tax filings. The SEC Reporting Manager is responsible for assisting in the financial planning and analysis for a company with revenues in excess of $2 billion.
The role requires the ability to work in a team environment where process improvement and change management is very much a collaborative effort between the senior leadership and corporate versus a “top down” approach. The SEC Reporting Manager must be adept at working in a high-growth company where processes may still be undefined and require imagination and ingenuity to develop cogent analyses, implement process improvements and effect positive change. The ideal candidate will have a skill in technical accounting principles with a previous working knowledge of data analysis and external financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing all aspects of SEC reporting including completion of disclosure checklists, data gathering, discussing comments on various filing documents and review of XBRL tagging.
- Evaluate existing financial information systems to identify areas of improvement in processing efficiencies and quality of information provided.
- Ensure all financial information is complete and accurate for timely internal and external financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of relevant SEC rules and regulations and U.S. GAAP guidance.
- Identify opportunities to automate SEC and tax information generated directly from Tyler systems in order to reduce our reliance on Excel and manual spreadsheets.
- Researching accounting/reporting issues and developing support for selected accounting treatments.
- Experience researching technical accounting guidance, and delivering complicated technical accounting memos and analysis, preferably including ASV 350, ASC 718, and ASC 805.
- Monitor, assess and implement new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company and transactions.
- Ensure processes associated with the pulling and presentation of information are well documented and meet the minimum requirements of SOX 404.
- Manage contributors to the SEC filing process and quarterly earnings releases.
- Coordinates and manages SOX 404 documentation requests from Internal Audit and External audit.
- Ultimately manage the preparation of financial statements for routine SEC filings.
- Support ad hoc requests, as required.
Qualifications
- BS in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
- MAC/MBA preferred
- CPA required
- A Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Financial Audit or External Reporting, including prior experience in Public Accounting with SEC Registered clients
- Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing key SEC filings, including, but not limited to, forms 10-K, 10-Q, MD&A, footnote disclosures, etc.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statements required. Strong interest in technical US GAAP, including a solid foundation in accounting analysis and ability to read and understand US GAAP guidance
- Experience researching technical accounting guidance, and delivering complicated technical accounting memos and analysis, preferably including ASV 350, ASC 718, and ASC 805
- Knowledge of financial concepts beyond accounting
- Ability to be detailed oriented while thinking strategically
- Ability to work in a fast paced, and rapidly growing environment
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Advanced/expert experience with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work with multiple employee groups, including the executive level
- Prior experience with accounting systems or software, such as Microsoft Access and Workiva, to generate SEC filings, analyze financial data and tax-related information.
