We are currently searching for an experienced Seamstress to join the 2nd Shift team (3:00 PM –11:30 PM) at our Houston Distribution Center located near I-45N and Beltway 8. If you are nimble and quick with your hands and enjoy working with needles and thread to customize clothing, this is a great opportunity for you! The Seamstress will perform alterations to garments according to customer specifications and assist in other areas of the Embellishments department as needed. This is a production environment where work is expected to be completed accurately and with the highest standards, in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities
- Perform all phases of sewing and alterations;
- Verify orders: Check merchandise for correct size, style, color, etc;
- Prep the work according to what alteration is required;
- Hem/Sew Garments using over lock and single needle sewing machines or hemming machine;
- Identify the appropriate components to be used to complete the repairs/customizations;
- Apply patches & sew on embellishments when necessary;
- Install snaps utilizing the appropriate equipment;
- Notify management of any issues that arise including quality of garments, ticket accuracy, etc.;
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned;
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
- Extensive sewing experience required;
- Experience in alterations required;
- Experience & proficiency with industrial sewing equipment a plus;
- Excellent Attention to Detail;
- Ability to read a measuring tape;
- Familiarity with & competency in using hand tools to remove zippers;
- Prior use of electric hand tools (fabric cutters) a plus;
- The sewing skills required include hemming pants to correct inseam, shortening sleeves, placing zippers in pant legs, and a variety of other sewing operations that involve the customization and repair of garments—replacing broken zippers, patching, re-sewing belt loops, etc.
