We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team of award-winning litigators.
Overview:
The Senior Accountant is a vital position within the Accounting and Finance function of the Firm. With a focus on general ledger review, account reconciliation including month end journal entries and overseeing Treasury activity across multiple bank accounts and entities, this role will be responsible for a variety of assignments including supporting the other team members to ensure goals are reached. The position requires familiarity with accounting practices and procedures and knowledge of a wide variety of prescribed accounting codes and classifications. This position reports to the Controller.
Responsibilities:
• Reconciliations and Month End Journal Entries-
o Key in all journal entries required to close out the month including deferred rent, prepaid rent, accounts payable accruals and others.
o Maintain reconciliation schedules for these and other balance sheet accounts.
• Treasury –
o Daily positive pay, daily banking including managing balances, communicating with staff to make sure accounts are funded for spend, coordinating with Staff Accountant regarding transactional questions.
• Contribute to team SOP preparation as requested.
• Perform analysis and/or reconciliation of the general ledger accounts, identifying issues, researching and developing options and being a part of the implemented solution.
• Evaluate, document and maintain general ledger records in agreement with firm policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Participate in the month end and year end closing process, assisting in preparation of financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger.
• Create ad hoc reports and account analysis as needed.
• Continually improve process efficiency to achieve financial results.
• Perform other duties as required by management.
Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• 4 – 6 years of progressive accounting experience
• Knowledge of General Ledger systems, required and knowledge of ProLaw a plus
• Prior experience working at a law firm or professional services firm, a plus
• Must be proficient in MS Office with intermediate knowledge of Excel
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work in a fast, dynamic environment and prioritize competing priorities
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and accounting regulations
