ACCOUNTANT I
As an Accountant I, you will support the Accounting Department and overall corporate operations by assisting in the development, implementation and administration of various corporate financial, general accounting and/or employee benefit programs.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
- Prepare various financial reports for corporate management and outside parties, as required or requested.
- Evaluate operating expenses vs budgets and help management obtain clean overhead budgets by finding irregularities or issues that can be addressed.
- Reconcile fixed assets and maintain capital project tracking and asset number listings.
- Prepare and submit use tax filings monthly, quarterly, annually.
- Reconcile other key general ledger accounts.
- Reconcile all bank accounts and credit cards.
- Record monthly journal entries and job cost adjustments.
- Assist in internal and external audits.
- Provide support to and is able to complete tasks in all accounting roles and functions including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billings and Payroll.
- Complete finance and accounting related special projects, as needed.
- Support operations personnel daily by addressing inquiries and issues.
- Other responsibilities: ad hoc reporting, quarterly compliance and certificates, new vendor setups and internal controls, use tax table maintenance.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting / finance, economics or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial management, general accounting and/or audit.
- Experience within the construction industry preferred.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of standard accounting procedures, as well as all relevant Federal, State and local tax requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintain strict confidentiality of corporate and employee information.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, internally and externally.
- Operates with a strong sense of urgency, and a focus on delivering results and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with other individuals.
