Minimum Qualifications
Minimum one year experience in a related recreational activity. Skill to demonstrate activities and use of related facility equipment. The ability to read and interpret guidelines pertaining to facility operation. Skill to learn applicable MCCS policies and procedures. Ability to communicate orally and in writing using tact and courtesy. Must have basic computer skills or the capacity to learn basic such skills. CPR and First Aid certification required or the ability to obtain within one month from the date of hire. May be required to obtain government drivers’ license. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
Responsibilities:
MAJOR DUTIES:
*Based on established policies, incumbent carries out assigned tasks in the Outdoor *Recreation Gear Issue Center and Outdoor Recreation Programs applying an understanding of the interest and needs of program participants.
*Assists supervisor with programs and sponsored activities.
*Assist Supervisor with planning, developing, organizing, promoting, coordinating, executing and a comprehensive Outdoor Recreation program for authorized patrons ensuring excellence in customer service.
*Programs include, but not limited to; Manage Gear Issue Center that includes renting mountain bikes, kayaks, paddleboards, boating operations to include recreational boats to meet program demands. Knowledge of boat safety procedures, care and minor repair of outdoor equipment (bikes, kayaks, inventory control, cash management, equipment rentals, Virginia license and Base fishing permits.
*Oversees the issue of equipment, collection of fees, safeguards and accounts for all funds collected on a daily basis, accountable for property inventories.
*Maintains the Outdoor Recreation Gear issue Center front desk functions.
*Provides information in person or by telephone concerning the Outdoor Recreation Gear Issue Center and Outdoor Recreation Programs.
*Monitors patron usage and eligible through Rec Trac procedures.
*Processes payments for fitness classes and other reservations through Rec Trac.
*Ensures only authorized personnel are entering the facility.
*May oversee sale of retail items associated with activities. Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations.
*Ensures that such usage does not conflict with policies governing participation without rank or grade, activity priorities and safety and environmental protection regulations. *Assures that the actions and activities of such associations are not contrary to the policies and procedures of and do not compete with, activities of the MCCS program.
*Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards.
*Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
