Overview:
The Parking Ambassador is a member of the Parking Operations team. The Ambassador provides direct customer service with Pay Stations and Exit Verifiers as well as answering general questions regarding the UAMS Facilities or Parking regulations. The Ambassador enforces UAMS parking regulations by issuing warnings and/or citations for illegal parking, identifies scofflaws, and applies boots to vehicles. The Ambassador performs lot counts for available parking spaces and reports any maintenance items.
The Parking Ambassador operates the Remote Parking Management System (RPMS) and provides remote assistance to customers. The RPMS is staffed 24*7*365. The primary responsibilities while stationed at RPMS are to monitor cameras and remotely assist customers with various parking transactions as well as exception management. In the event remote customer assistance is not successful, an Ambassador is dispatched and stationed in the field to provide further assistance. Additional responsibilities may be assigned during non-peak hours and may include database management and various clerical duties.

Salary: $14/hour
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct customer service, both in person and via RPMS, with parking deck equipment including automated pay stations and exit verifiers
- Assists customers by providing directions and assist individuals on the UAMS campus
- Identifies customers in need of assistance and be comfortable with approaching and communicating with customers
- Follows through to deliver solutions to customer concerns and/or direct customer to appropriate party for resolution
- Continuously monitors parking areas and issues warnings and/or citations for illegal parkers (such as employees and students parked in visitor parking spaces, etc.)
- Identifies scofflaws on the boot list and install boot as needed
- Assures safety in parking facilities by reporting unsafe driving practices, speeding, etc.
- Reports suspicious activity to supervisor/parking office
- Must be comfortable communicating regularly using a radio and maintain composure in stressful or emergency situations
- Assists in assuring proper maintenance of facilities and equipment
- Must make immediate corrections to facilities and equipment as required and report major issues to supervisor
- Performs routine maintenance tasks which include but are not limited to: Factory recommended preventive maintenance procedures, replacing broken gate arms, clearing ticket jams, replacing tickets in dispensing devices, maintaining the appearance of parking equipment and high traffic areas, etc.
- Performs lot counts to identify available spaces and report to manager
- Constantly strives to find solutions to enforcement problems encountered and existing processes/procedures and make suggestions to management
- Assists department with Special Event management
- Duties include but are not limited to; overseeing event attendee access into specific parking areas, coordinating with others to redirect event attendees to secondary parking areas, managing traffic flow, assisting customers with directions, maintaining consistent and timely status reporting to supervisor
- May perform other duties as assigned including managing inclement weather
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED
- Current and Valid Arkansas Driver's License
- Must be able and willing to work outside in all weather conditions for extended periods of time
- Must become Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certified within three (3) months of hire
- No Criminal Convictions
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year or more of customer service experience
- One (1) year or more of experience working outdoors in all types of weather
Competencies:
- Basic computer skills with a general knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population
- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
