Seeking a FULL TIME Patient Care Coordinator
Department: Vascular Surgery
Reports to: Team Lead/Manager
Position Summary: Represents physicians by being the primary mode of communication between patients and provider. Ensure all necessary tasks are completed leading up to a patient procedure. Performs a full range of duties to support day to day operations and ensure high quality service for our patients. Expected to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Essential Functions:
❖ Schedule office or hospital-based procedures, surgeries, diagnostic testing, and follow-up
❖ Obtain any required prior authorizations and verify insurance requirements
❖ Ensure patients have proper medical clearance in place
❖ Provide patients and facilities with applicable instructions, pre-admission testing, forms and consents necessary for procedures/surgery to take place
❖ Complete Disability, Workers Compensation, FMLA, and No-Fault paperwork
❖ Coordinate any special equipment, testing or medications needed for scheduled procedure/surgery
❖ Provide assistance to patients and their families in regard to preparing for procedure/surgery by answering any pertinent questions, and/or addressing any concerns
❖ Managing any mail/fax/paperwork associated with facilitation of procedure/surgery including medical record requests by facilities or patient care team
❖ Ensure physician/provider productivity by maintaining calendars; scheduling appointments, professional meetings, consultation and conferences.
❖ Answer phones and triage accordingly, schedule appointments, admissions, surgeries and laboratory services
❖ Maintains quality results by following and enforcing standards
❖ Function as liaison between Patient and Provider to deliver excellent patient care and a positive patient experience.
❖ Serves and protects the health care community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures
Other Functions:
❖ Perform administrative duties as needed
❖ Establish and maintain a professional and polite rapport with all patients and staff
❖ Perform special projects assigned by lead assistant/practice manager or provider
❖ Provide cross coverage within department when deemed necessary
❖ Occasionally perform front office duties as assigned.
❖ Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of Medical Secretary Program preferred.
Experience/Qualifications : 2 years clinical office experience required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential to ensure high quality customer service. Strong typing skills required
