DESCRIPTION
Assist in basic laboratory duties such as making solutions, western blots, and running affinity chromatography columns as part of biochemical analysis of laboratory samples. Assist in the breeding management of mice. Provide general laboratory maintenance, order lab supplies, and oversee general lab safety training of employees and waste disposal. Incumbent will perform basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques to aid in the study of neurodegeneration and disease studies, including neuron cultures, DNA cloning, preparing viral vectors, PCR, and westerns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in neuroscience or biological sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skill and knowledge of general biochemical techniques.
Knowledge of general laboratory maintenance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with western blotting.
Experience with PCR
College degree in neuroscience or biological sciences.
Experience working with diabetic rodents.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $40,340 - $46,771 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $19.32 - $22.40
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
