POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for providing a full range of banking services, with emphasis on using needs assessment, to help members meet their financial goals by offering appropriate Credit Union products and services. Creates and enhances long-term relationships with both new and existing members. This position will assist members with our online banking system, debit card disputes, setting up accounts as well as providing a variety of account services including check processing, deposits, withdrawals, loan payments and balancing the vault. Responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing applications for consumer and home equity loans. Meets with applicants to explain credit application processes and to obtain additional loan information and documentation. Ensures that members and prospective members are promptly and professionally served. Provides general Credit Union information and cross-sells products and services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1. Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional performance of teller, member service and vault functions.
a. Actively and enthusiastically cross sells credit union products and services.
b. Provides account services to members by receiving deposits and loan payments; cashing checks; issuing savings withdrawals; recording night and mail deposits; issuing cashier's checks, answering questions in person or on telephone.
c. Presents and explains Credit Union services and products to members and assists in meeting their financial needs.
d. Opens and closes varying types of accounts, including consumer and business accounts. Rents safe deposit boxes. Orders checks as well as debit and credit cards for members.
e. Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to concerns, collecting data, securing answers and reporting results to the inquiring party. Assists with resolution of member book keeping and checking account problems. Takes stop payment orders.
f. Assists with certificate accounts and their renewals.
g. Balances vault. Monitors, orders, dispenses, ships, and balances cash.
h. Works and balances vault when assigned.
i. Keeps TCD machines filled. Does monthly audit on TCD and vault.
j. Performs file maintenance and account changes as needed.
k. Maintains IRA accounts and answers questions regarding IRAs.
2. Assumes responsibility for effectively receiving, reviewing, and processing loan applications.
a. Interviews, takes applications, gathers information, and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests.
b. Evaluates and verifies loan applications and credit criteria. Computes debt ratios. Verifies employment and income. Determines value of collateral. Notifies applicants of loan decisions. Requests additional information if required.
c. Coordinates and processes closings. Ensures that each loan is promptly and properly prepared, documented, processed, approved, and disbursed.
d. Calculates terms, finance charges, and insurance on loans for proper disclosure on promissory notes.
e. Assists in servicing loans by processing such items as payoff, refinances, address changes, collateral releases, and payment due date changes.
f. Assumes responsibility for filing vehicle titles and prompt follow-up on titles still pending. Verifies car insurance coverage. Inspects collateral as needed.
g. Sells credit life, disability, GAP and MMP insurance products.
h. Ensures that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant. Ensures that loan requests are properly documented.
i. Works to increase job knowledge and performance through training and certification programs.
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members.
a. Resolves members' requests and questions promptly and courteously.
b. Ensures that the Credit Union's quality and professional reputation is projected and maintained.
c. Counsels members regarding money management and financial matters.
4. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and with management.
a. Assists other branch employees as needed.
b. Completes reports and records promptly and accurately. Audits loans and all supporting documents as required.
c. Attends meetings as required.
d. Keeps Management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
5. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
a. Stays informed regarding local and national economic conditions and legal and regulatory changes.
b. Ensures proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of work area, desks, equipment, etc.
c. Works a regular and predictable schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school graduate or equivalent.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Credit Union loan services, policies, and procedures. Understanding of related legal and regulatory standards, and required loan documentation. Knowledge of consumer and home equity lending practices.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1-3 of similar or related experience.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills. Professional appearance and attitude.
Strong analytical and financial skills. Ability to operate related computer applications, and other business equipment including calculators, computer, printer, telephone, and notary stamp, if applicable. Good typing skills.
