What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Laboratory Tech position at UCHealth?

Summary:
Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in one or more sections of the laboratory.

Work Schedule: Full Time Evenings

Responsibilities:
Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results.

Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements.

Performs projects as assigned as well as serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

    Essential:
    • Medical Laboratory Technician
    • American Society for Clinical Pathology.
  • Other information:
    Minimum Required Education: Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology OR, on or before 4/24/1995, be a high school graduate or equivalent and have successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory training course and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician).
    Required Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or by the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. State licensure if required by law.
    Minimum Experience: None Required.
  • IF APPLICABLE: BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

The pay range for this position is: $22.800000 - $29.640000 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
