What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician II, Support Services (Night Shift) position at UCLA Health Careers?
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Certified Phlebotomist Technician II to join their Support Services Laboratory. Duties include:
•Performs pre-analytical and post-analytical activities and specimen processing duties
•Performs phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients, including neonatal/pediatric patients; perform EKG in outpatient setting
•Triage all lab samples and requests after verification of appropriate information
•Enter and verify patient and test info into computer
•Generate computer labels for specimens and deliver to appropriate areas
•Prepare samples for transport to referral labs
•Document draws, added tests, and cancelled/rejected specimens
Note – Position will have a variable start time. Shift may start as early as 8:30pm or as late as 10:00pm. Schedules will be provided at least two weeks in advance.
•At least two years of phlebotomy experience post CPT certification
•Recent experience in performing phlebotomy on all age groups
•Previous experience performing specimen processing in an acute care facility, highly preferred
•Previous experience in EPIC, highly preferred
•Knowledge of Clinical Lab test names and their abbreviated forms
•Ability to multi-task with accuracy
•Excellent time and organizational skills
•Skill in using a computer and printer
