The Database Administrator is responsible for providing technical and functional support related to the Events & Transportation (E&T) database, server and end-user support areas. Duties include database and server maintenance or updates, troubleshooting Structured Query Language (SQL) scripts, analyzing connectivity issues and assisting with end-user support for the IT helpdesk. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with IT applications team to assist with designing databases and testing database changes. Administer multiple Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases in a Windows environment. Implement the Disaster Recovery System that includes setting up and configuring the VMware vCenter server, ESXi hosts servers and HP Lefthand SAN storage. Install and maintain database application software; monitor systems availability and performance; monitor systems usage; advise on upgrades and enhancements; identify, isolate, and correct system failures; perform preventative maintenance on systems to support 24/7/365 operations. The Database Administrator must maintain strong relationships with business partners to share knowledge and collaborate in providing solutions for the end-user community.

Required/Preferred

Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline OR three years (or more) of equivalent experience. Three or more years of demonstrated experience in in database management, application development or systems engineering. Ability to integrate standardized data management practices and principals into lifecycle.

Possess broad technical skills with various operating systems, databases, protocols and programming languages to effectively evaluate systems and applications. Possess the verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization; ability to use standard English grammar and punctuation.

Demonstrated skill in systems analysis and problem solving. Ability to assess alternative solutions, develop and implement plans. Demonstrated skill in implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software in network environments. Working knowledge of Windows Server product, Active Directory, and includes IIS, DNS, DHCP, and WINS components. Ability to configure and troubleshoot networked printers and print server.

Skill in communicating (verbally and in writing) to convey accurate, understandable, technical information to individuals at various organizational levels. Ability to make oral presentations and train users in a variety of levels on use of relevant software.

Experience with enterprise management tools, backup and recovery, and power system (UPS). Demonstrated skill in the use of common computer utilities (such as: Norton Utilities, Sophos, WinZip, Ghost, Regedit). Working knowledge of common computer productivity, applications (such as, Microsoft Office, Project, and Visio).

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL and Oracle database server. Demonstrated experience designing relational databases. Skill in writing effective computer programs using SQL, PL/SQL, .NET, HTML, and shell script.

Ability to troubleshoot problems such as, virus infection, device driver installation or conflicts, interrupt conflicts, hard drive installation or corruption.

Ability to assist users in a variety of skill levels with computer hardware and software problems.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and documents.

Ability to work under minimal supervision and handle other duties as assigned. Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings and respond to emergencies at critical time periods.

Knowledge of configuration and support of third-party systems such as AssetWorks FleetAnywhere fleet management system, EJ Ward vehicle fuel station, Box, Docusign, Microsoft Office 365 and Tableau.
