Collaborates with customers (the department of Nursing and a nurses in areas where nursing care is practiced within UF Health Shands), Information Services, vendors, other UF Health facilities (Jacksonville and UF Physicians clinics) and other UF Health departments (Quality, Operations, etc.) to develop and execute information technology plans, including software applications and hardware related to Nursing workflows. Interacts daily with nursing staff to communicate and resolve information technology needs. Acts as advocate for nursing staff relative to clinical IT issues. Provides a key link between medical staff, nursing staff, other clinical users, senior administration and information services. Utilizes knowledge of clinical practice to provide input into application development, implementation, training and continuous support. The Nursing Informatics Specialist provides information systems support to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
BSN required. Either Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or Master's degree in healthcare informatics required. Degree major in informatics preferred. Current staff without Master's degree must obtain degree as contracted by the VP/AVP. National nursing board certification in specialty area required. Current staff without national nursing board certification in specialty area must obtain certification as contracted by the VP/AVP. Has a minimum of 5 years of professional nursing practice with demonstrated clinical skills in applicable patient populations and evidence of leadership skills. Recent bedside nursing experience and experience with multiple computer applications preferred.
