Principal Duties / Responsibilities
- Manages and schedules all outbound and inbound loads and coordinates with sales, production, and other UFP transportation entities.
- Coordinates proper loading and shipping orders with S/R personnel.
- Makes sure inbound product is stored properly.
- Determines mode of transportation and selects appropriate carrier.
- Coordinates routing of orders, and dispatches carrier with orders and appropriate delivery instructions consistent with customer receiving times.
- Ensures all internal/external paperwork meets all Universal as well as DOT regulations and procedures.
- Establishes delivery / receiving appointments and loading times for each carrier
- Answers questions and resolves supplier and customer problems regarding transportation issues.
- Documents any shortage on orders, investigates reasons for occurrence and informs carrier of shortages to resolve issue with customer with assistance of sales and other administrative functions.
- Notifies plant management on damaged or lost inventory.
- Takes and acts upon all calls for tracking and/or expediting orders.
- Prepares various reports and correspondence as required.
- Performs other duties as required by management.
Qualifications
Knowledge
- Required bachelor’s degree in related discipline or combination of education and relevant work history.
- Minimum of five years transportation and customer service.
- Minimum of five years of experience as a shipping supervisor and or receiving supervisor or equivalent management experience.
- Proficient at the use of Microsoft Office; including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP's organization, culture, and product lines, 3PL’s, and carriers.
- Preferred experience in booking outbound class b freight carriers.
- Preferred experience in Class A and B transportation, with proven track record of positive results.
