Responsibilities

Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented  Director of Intake & Admitting to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Assessment & Referral Services is responsible for supervising the Assessment & Referral and Admitting Department staff.  This position participates in senior management activities and meetings to facilitate communication with all other hospital departments.  He/she is also responsible for scheduling 24 hours/7days/week staffing and all duties in Assessment & Referral and Admitting Departments. 

 

Duties will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Supervises the Assessment & Referral and Admitting department employees in their daily activities.
  • Supervises and enforces all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Completes a written performance evaluation to Assessment & Referral and the Admitting staff annually.
  • Supervises staff in compliance with staff development inservices programs.
  • Receives clinical and administrative supervision from the Hospital Chief Executive Officer.
  • Works a personal schedule tailed to the needs and objectives of the department and hospital.
  • Obtains initial assessment information.
  • Provides clinical assessment and feedback during intake.
  • Provides information to patients and referral sources regarding treatment programs, insurance information and admission procedures.
  • Communicates with physicians, program directors, charge nurses, etc. regarding anticipated admissions.
  • Provides follow-up to referral sources and patients awaiting admission.
  • Performs phone screening evaluations to determine appropriateness of admission to the hospital, in consultation with the staff psychiatrist or Medical Director.
  • Provides consultation to nurses regarding assessment information and screenings.
  • Provides referral assistant for patients assessed as inappropriate for admission.
  • Maintains accurate census board.
  • Coordinates admitting services to as to attain payor-mix and census objectives.
  • Collects records and analyzes admitting statistics and reports these to required offices.
  • Facilitates increased community relations with referral sources, patients, and families.
  • Participates in marketing projects as necessary.
  • Has a working knowledge of insurance verification and benefits.
  • May be required to work on call.
  • Attends hospital mandatory training/in-services as required in a timely manner.
  • Follows Dress Code rules and serves as a role model for patients and staff.
  • Follows hospital expectations regarding Time and Attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

  • Master’s degree in Social Work is required.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical and management experience in a hospital Assessment & Referral Department is required.
  • At least five years of management experience in an inpatient psychiatric facility is required.
  • At least five years of clinical experience in a medical hospital setting is required.
  • Current and valid Limited License Social Worker in the State of Michigan required, current and valid Fully License Social Worker preferred
