Responsibilities

Yoga Therapist must have yoga therapy certification, with emphasis on trauma informed yoga

 

PRN positions - Mostly Weekends

Starting pay $20.96 to $31.44 per hour DOE and Licensure.

 

The Yoga Therapist supervises and coordinates the activities of patients in the Therapy program to facilitate rehabilitation of mentally or emotionally disabled patients. The Therapist follows policies, procedures, standards and objectives for the treatment of patients; complies with performance improvement program. May organize and conduct art therapy programs, depending on specialty. Directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce and enhance performance. Facilitates the learning of skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, diminish or correct pathology, and to promote and maintain health.

Qualifications

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

  • Comply with goals, objectives and procedures for the Recreational Services Department.
  • Comply with standards for patient participation in Recreational Therapy.
  • Plans Recreational Therapy program involving such activities as leisure, education, sports and games, singing, dancing, creating music, exercise programs, and occupational programs; participation in a variety of sensory, motor, educational, and social activities.
  • Teaches patients the skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates patient’s progress, attitudes and behavior as related to their rehabilitative potential.
  • Adapts program according to the needs of the individual patients. Studies patients’ reactions while they are engaged in Recreational Therapy activities and prepares progress notes reflecting their reactions to the activity program.
  • Identify patient needs, develop and coordinate the implementations of therapeutic programs in accordance with administrative guidelines and medical directives.
  • Recommend equipment and supplies for related programs.
  • Initiate patient charges.
  • Maintain department records.
  • Assure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in performance improvement records and techniques.
  • Comply with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Participate in education programs.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Promote positive working environment.
  • Promote guest relations.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Promotes safety by attending mandatory in services and complies with all safety measures initiated by the facility

     EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:       

     

    Baccalaureate degree or above required, including three (3) to five (5) years hospital experience in a psychiatric setting preferred. Knowledge of rehabilitation programs and planning required. Must be eligible to sit for certification/licensure exam. Must obtain certification/licensure within the first year of employment.

     

    Preferred:

     

    Music/Art Therapist must be certified by the State of Colorado with at least six (6) months experience in a mental health setting.

     

    Occupational Therapist must have degree in Occupational Therapy with national registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.

     

    Recreation Therapist must have degree in Recreational Therapy and national registration or State of Colorado registration with a recognized therapeutic organization.

     

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:     

     

    • Must have a working knowledge of the psychiatric process and its relationship to arts and crafts, sports and games, leisure skills, music and adjunctiveal activities, small and large group activities.
    • Must be able to perform assignments with minimal supervision;
    • Must be able to perform concentrated and/or complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex and/or highly technical situations;
    • Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions;
    • Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures;
    • Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion;
    • Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads an work assignments on a constant basis;
    • Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
