Responsibilities

As a Licensed Starbucks barista here at The George Washington University Hospital, you’ll create the Starbucks Experience for our patients, staff, and customers through excellent service and expertly-crafted products. You’ll be in an energetic store environment where you’ll have the ability to master your food & beverage craft, work alongside friends and meet new people every day. A cup of coffee and smile can go a long way, and we believe our baristas have the power to be the best moment in each customer’s day. POSITION SUMMARY
 
Provides exceptional customer service while making hand-crafted, quality beverages. Take orders and make coffee, tea and other drinks to customer specifications. Operate cash register and credit card machines. Fields customer concerns or questions while working to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of beverages.
 

Responsible for maintaining sanitation standards for general work area and serving areas throughout the department.

  • Works in assigned positions and uses appropriate routines
  • Crafts and serves only the highest quality products
  • Continually hones their craft through learning and practice
  • Ensures food and merchandise is visually appealing, stocked and signed appropriately
  • Completes responsibilities to keep the equipment and store environment clean, safe and ready for customers
    Follows our standard work methods and guidelines to work together effectively
  • Helps create an environment of warmth and belonging
  • Seeks opportunities to recognize, include, appreciate, support and delight fellow baristas
  • Follows established policies and guidelines
  • Communicates important information to the store leader(s) and the team in a timely manner
  • Checks in with the Supervisor On Duty to ensure that they have the information they need for each shift

 

 

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
 
Education/Qualification
 
High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
 
Customer service experience preferred.
 
Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards and inventory control preferred.
 
Completion and certification in the Starbucks Barista Basics Training required within 30 days of start date.
 
 
Skills
 
Presents self in a professional manner to others and acts with honesty and integrity.
 
Ability to be positive and communicate with co-workers, staff from other departments and customers with professionalism and respect.
 
Ability to learn quickly, think on your feet and handle multiple duties.
 
Ability to use a computer.
