DIRECTOR OF NURSING
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the provision of nursing care services, which includes all services provided by the nursing component of Clinical Services. This position ensures the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs and services consistent with the facility’s goals and objectives and actively participates in a leadership role, consulting with facility management in designing and providing patient care and services. The position additionally directs Laboratory, Pharmacy & Nutrition Services.
Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents is a unique acute care, inpatient specialty hospital with 110 licensed beds, including Med Surg. and Residential Treatment Center; staffed by the finest physicians and treatment teams. We treat patients, ages 2-22 who have chronic illnesses, brain injuries and neurobehavioral disorders with co-behavioral issues.

Qualifications
Education: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
Knowledge: A thorough knowledge of the field of medical rehabilitation; nursing and the nursing process, of laws and requirements governing rehabilitation and nursing practice and of management principles. Demonstrates knowledge of fiscal management and reimbursement. A thorough knowledge of Joint Commission and state licensure regulations.
Experience: A minimum of five years experience in nursing administration and/or dedicated leadership experience in psychiatric or rehabilitative nursing preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Maintains a current license in nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Maintain current CPI (bi-annually), CPR (BLS Provider annually) First Aid (two years) Certifications. In order to operate Cumberland’s vehicles, a current Virginia driver’s license with a good driving record (minimum of 1 points) is required.
Physical Requirements: Position responsibilities require a very moderate level of physical exertion: some mobility between buildings; ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. Frequent sitting with ability to change positions, stand or walk. Ability to perform CPR and CPI for physically managing an aggressive patient.
