Mountain Youth Academy has been a behavioral healthcare provider in Tennessee area for over 20 years. Mountain Youth Academy is a 90-bed residential treatment facility and assists in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for our young adolescent students.

The Director of Residential Services will provide administrative oversight and overall leadership and management of the residential programs at Mountain Youth. He/she will assist the COO and Director of Clinical Services with the implementation of objectives and policies and assist in developing and implementing proposals for new and existing business.

Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Although Mountain Youth Academy prefers a Master’s degree, and/or a Bachelor’s Degree in a health services/criminal justice field plus one to three years’ experience working in an residential or substance abuse setting, and at least 2 years of progressive supervisory experience are considerations The minimum requirements for this position would be a high school diploma. Certifications in Verbal De-escalation, TCI and Residential Youth Care Professionalism a plus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (not an inclusive list)
- Oversees the delivery of student, continuing care and family services, including developing program schedules, coordinating the activities of a multi-disciplinary team, and maintaining a therapeutic milieu.
- Handles staffing for the Residential Program, including interviewing and hiring staff, orienting new unit staff, assigning duties and monitoring performance, and counseling ineffective employees.
- Manages proper FTE’s and overtime with the HRD.
- Provides training as needed for staff and students.
- Establishes CQI monitoring criteria, and participates in CQI activities.
- Oversee the activities of the Residential staff
- Attends and participates in the daily morning meeting.
- Monitors the physical environment for safety, cleanliness and aesthetics to include efforts to make the living area more home-like and the elimination of graffiti and other property destruction.
- Conducts performance Improvement activities as needed.
- Conducts educational groups as needed.
- Acts as a student advocate with courts, schools, employers, etc.
- Attends treatment team meetings
- Develops new programming, or augments existing programs, as needed to meet the demands of changing populations
- Conducts in-service for staff to ensure compliance with licensing standards.
- Facilitates the flow of communication both through staff members in the residential Program as well as interdepartmentally through the entire organization.
- Adheres to student confidentiality guidelines at all times.
- Recruit and maintain a sufficient staff of trained personnel to ensure that all policies and procedures are followed.
- Communicates professionally with staff and other professionals.
- Utilizes supervisory feedback to improve performance.
