Wellstone Regional Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility located in Jeffersonville, Indiana and has been providing quality health care to the residents of Southern Indiana and the Louisville area since 2003. Wellstone specializes in the treatment of Adolescents, Children, Adults, and the CD population. In addition to our in-patient services, we offer out-patient programs as well.
The Director of Admissions is accountable for implementing and directing all admissions to the facility while coordinating internal and external business development strategies. Ideal candidate will be able to work well in a crisis situation, remain calm and direct staff appropriately. This role also requires knowledge of regulatory standards including state and federal rules and regulations for emergency care. Good written skills are necessary for performance improvement monitors. Previous managerial experience required as this is a position requiring the direction of many staff members both in-office and within the community. Transparency in communication is a must as well as standardized expectations for staff members reporting to this person. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, Business Development, fellow department heads and administration, treatment team/external case managers/managed care organizations, functions as a liaison with other hospital intake departments. Therefore, this person must collaborate and work well both independently and as a team member. This position is an Exempt Salaried position, hours may vary.
Job Duties:
- Directs the screening of potential patients for admission into the program and initiate the integrated assessment process.
- Monitor all intake calls.
- Function as a liaison between physicians and families, coordinate with transportation services and other mental health facilities to organize the admission procedures.
- Plans, coordinates and evaluates direct and indirect facility assessments and patient admissions.
- Communicates with external reviewers and referral sources and conduct all required external reviews and maintain documentation of all such interactions.
- Prepare morning meeting reports to communicate pertinent census information, referral sources, pending admissions and follow-up action pending admissions, pending discharges and nature of discharge.
- Supervise Admission staff. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or Human Services field/or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Indiana. Prefer someone with independent licensure in the state of Indiana (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC.)
- Minimum of three (3) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable;
- Working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds;
- Service Excellence mentality;
- Knowledge of medical terminology;
- CPI and CPR;
- Ability to communicate effectively;
- Professional, exercises good judgement;
- Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel and other software programs.
- This position will report directly to the CEO and functions as a Senior Leader in the facility and will be in an on-call rotation with other Senior Leaders.
