Responsibilities
The Utility/Dishwasher position is responsible providing the best quality food available in a hospital environment, to provide the highest quality of service, to be sensitive to the special needs of psychiatric and substance abuse patient and to respond to the need of the hospital in his/her area of expertise.
Essential Functions
- Cleans all pots, pans, utensils, and any service wares used to serve beverages and food.
- Provides patient service on floors, staff and patients who eat in the café, and any catered function.
- Escorts any vendors in and out from the loading dock and helps in putting stock away as instructed.
- When uses the dish machine needs to turn on the dish machine and run through several cycles to obtain the correct temperatures. Records these temperatures every two hours to ensure the temps are within code.
- Checks any daily/weekly cleaning that needs to be completed in the kitchen (see cleaning schedules) and makes sure this is completed by the end of shift or by the end of the week and initials the cleaning schedule.
- Fills the 3 bay sinks to the appropriate levels and ensures there is enough soap and sanitizer in the appropriate sinks.
- Records the sanitizer solution parts per million (ppm) by taking a piece of the sanitizer strip and holding in the sanitizer water for at least 10 seconds (count to 10). It should turn a greenish color. Matches it with the color of the strips according to the packaging.
