Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented H.I.M Associate II to join our team of compassionate and dedicated clinical professionals.
Under general supervision of the Director of Health Information Management and in accordance with hospital, state, and federal regulations, documents the status of pertinent data and processes internal and external customer requests for information; serves as liaison with contracted service vendors.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Following validation of proper documentation by authorized requesters, releases medical information.
- Utilizing manual and electronic information systems, inputs pertinent data for quality monitoring (performance improvement) and information tracking.
- Serving as liaison with contracted vendor, coordinates all aspects of dictation/transcription system.
- In accordance with established criteria, reviews medical records and assesses documentation compliance, e.g., Hospital Based Inpatient Psychiatric Services (HBIPS).
- Utilizing manual and electronic information systems: Abstracts pertinent data/charts for quality monitoring and reimbursement; Retrieves information/reports/charts for patient care.
- Serves as point person in assisting medical staff members with access and technical connectivity issues.
- Conducts data mining and develops reports to communicate outcomes.
- Serves as a liaison with contracted vendor for release of medical information, i.e., photocopying of medical records.
- Serves as liaison with contracted vendor of storage of the hospital’s medical records.
- As needed, provides HIM Department operational support: analysis, reanalysis, filing, and purging, etc.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate degree in healthcare field desirable;
- At least five (5) years of healthcare work experience, Health Information Management (HIM) experience desirable;
- At least two (2) years of direct working experience with patients and physicians required.
- Awareness of Hospital Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements preferred.
- Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology required.
- Proficient in English grammar and composition required.
- Employee must be in good standing (employment, corrective action history, performance evaluation, ect.) to be considered for employment
