POSITION SUMMARY
The IT/IS Technician is responsible helping to oversee the operations and maintenance of all computer hardware, software, LAN/WAN components and telecommunications within all the Fairfax clinical, administrative and school campuses. The technician works under the guidance of the IT Manager. The technician will recommend solutions to the IT Manager for optimizing existing systems and research options on systems to meet changing hospital, regulatory and technological needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Works with the IT Manager to actively assess the department processes, evaluate current and future needs and develop solutions for improvement. Works within a team of IT professionals, technicians and vendors to deliver high quality support.
Supports facility LSO – Local Security Officer and ensure compliance of all UHS policy & procedure requirements.
Exhibit excellent customer relations skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including vendors, coworkers, patients, visitors, families and referral sources.Assist in installation and maintenance of all hardware and software systems, including installing upgrades as needed.Participate in all IT projects, upgrades, and afterhours duties that these may entail.
Manages the user access administration process from beginning to end.Sets up and installs necessary VPN communication software with required approvals.Helps maintain current network diagram, IT process documentation, and departmental communication materials.Setup and configure PC’s and laptops for network access .Maintains current hardware and software inventories, including software license information, physical location of equipment and equipment serial numbersMaintains a tracking system which reflects all equipment and software purchases and well as retirement of PC equipment.Participates in a 24 hour, 365 day support model for IS/IT function, including a rotating on-call coverage, maintaining a flexible schedule to respond to critical issues during afterhours or weekend coverage, across all Sites and Facilities. Participate in the implementation of all new Information Technology systems and processes.
Communication and Resources:
Responds to all users with hardware or software issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Provides advance communication to staff around system changes or planned downtime as well as reactive communication around unexpected downtime.
Is available as a resource to assist with the IT aspects of any training or special functions.
Disseminates information to other departments as necessary.
Ensures users are storing data properly to provide successful backup.
Perform all other duties as assigned by IT Manager.
Security:
Implements and monitors security measures to safeguard information against accidental or intentional modification, destruction, or disclosure through monitoring effectiveness of backup equipment for the server, developing policies and procedures for usage and access to the network and information contained on it.Assists in implementations and updates policies for workstation and network use, including system user hard disk space and related maintenance.

Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: AA degree in related field or equivalent experience required. A , Net , MCSE strongly preferred.
Experience: Three (3 ) years of experience in operating/managing a complex PC-based IS system. Hospital or Healthcare organization experience preferred.
Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and applicable software packages. Superior knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft based applications.
Additional Requirements: Organizational and project management skills preferred. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Adept at adapting to varying workloads and changing priorities based on emergent situations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Ability to work with minimal supervision while demonstrating sound judgment. May be required to work occasional overtime and/or flexible hours.
