What are the responsibilities and job description for the LADC - Evening Counselor/IOP position at UHS?
The Pride Institute first opened in 1986 and has since gone on to be a leading provider of residential and outpatient substance use and addiction treatment centers for the LGBTQ community. Pride Staff support the personal growth, resiliency and overall wellness of our clients during their recovery program with us. Our clients don’t deal with their addiction and mental health issues in a vacuum; instead, these disorders are addressed within the context of the whole person. As a result, recovery doesn’t just mean living substance-free, it means living more integrated and expressive lives.
Our Pride Staff have diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Some of us are part of the LGBTQ community and some of us are allies. Some of us are in recovery and want to “give back”. Some of us have only witnessed the devastation caused by addiction. Some of us came to Pride with limited knowledge of the unique challenges experienced by our clients and some of us have personally faced those challenges. We are always learning from each other and from our clients.
Our Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors are an integral part of our multidisciplinary treatment team focusing on client-centered care within MN 245G statutes and CARF standards. They provide on-going assessments, treatment planning, progress reviews, continuing care planning, and individual/group counseling sessions involving recovery education.
We are currently looking for a compassionate and committed Evening Counselor who desires to be part of a team of dedicated and like-minded human beings doing the hard work they want and need to be doing. This is a salaried, full-time, benefits-eligible position at our Uptown Mpls Intensive Outpatient Treatment Center, with a schedule Monday through Friday. Hours may vary or discussed at hire.
Pride Institute offers eligible employees a generous paid time off policy, health, dental, vision, life and other supplemental policies, as well as a 401k match and a stock purchase program from our parent company Universal Health Services (UHS).
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have an active, unrestricted license (LADC) awarded by the MN BBHT; have 1-2 years’ experience in the chemical dependency field and 12 contact hours of co-occurring disorders training; and have insight regarding the unique challenges faced by our clients. They must be able to pass/clear the MN DHS Background Study and must be free of problematic substance use for at least the two years immediately preceding their hiring.
